YO GABBA GABBA

A mate of mine who is a school teacher gave me the heads up on Yo Gabba Gabba. (no peado)
It is the brainchild of Christian Jacobs, frontman for The Aquabats, and Scott Schulz,
lead singer of electronic group Majestic. The pair hooked up to create a preschool
show with a decent soundtrack that wouldn't drive parents up the wall.

Hosted by a human character named DJ Lance Rock, the series features a mix of live-action
segments featuring cartoonish costumed characters--Muno (the red cyclops),
Foofa (the pink flower bubble), Brobee (a little green monster), Toodee (the blue cat-dragon)
and Plex (the yellow robot) with short animated sketches and musical numbers.

The title of the series is derived from the chant "Gabba Gabba Hey",
first coined by The Ramones.

The show features guest stars like Jack Black, Rhys Darby from Flight of the Conchords,
Elijah Wood The Tings Tings, MGMT, The Roots, Biz Markie, Rahzel, Tony Hawk
and Mýa amongst others.

In 2008, Yo Gabba Gabba! was the No. 1 ranked children's program watched
by children under the age of 4 on all Australian free-to-air networks

I caught them on the Today show this morning they did a performance
to promo their upcoming Australian tour.
The live show will tour for the first time ever, heading to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in May 2009. The live show will feature several Australian celebrity guests, personalities and musicians performing their favourite 'Dancey Dance'.
